The EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) is the agency in charge of registering European Union trademarks and designs, formerly called OHIM (Internal Market Harmonization Office).

What is an EUIPO customer panel?

An EUIPO customer panel is a group of EUIPO customers (about 15 people) invited to participate in discussions about certain EUIPO services. The customer panel meets for a day or two. During these meetings, panelists are invited to describe their needs and behaviors, to share their individual experiences using the services, and to suggest possible improvements.

What are the purposes of the panels?

The main objective of the panels of the EUIPO is to involve their clients in improving their services:

  • Understand their needs and behaviours
  • Know their experience with their services
  • Discuss possible improvements
  • Shape their services through the opinion of their customers

Our participation

On March 2, Lidermark was part of the EUIPO panel to which only the companies with the most clients in China and the United States were invited.

The meeting lasted approximately 2 hours and was in English, and this was the experience of Isidro García, CEO of Lidermark:

It was a very enriching experience, in every way, meeting colleagues from different backgrounds and learning about their experiences, points of view and suggestions, all with a moderator who acted in a very professional way. Perhaps a little more aspects related to marketing strategies could be touched upon, both by the different agencies in relation to Chinese customers and by the EUIPO itself so that the European Union brand and design are known by the Chinese market in general. , both potential end customers and their agencies in China, which play an important role as prescribers. Perhaps it was also possible to talk a bit more about the technical problems that frequently occur when using the EUIPO forms – for example, when one tries to write the legal form or the list of goods/services -, and that occur here even more frequently, since Chinese clients, when they are agencies, as is often the case, almost always want the lists of products and services they have created to be used. Yes, I would like to talk a lot more about my own experiences and proposals, too big to share on the client panel, but too big to explain here.

Finally, we want to thank EUIPO for deciding to count on us for this initiative.
